Baddie News and Rumours

Got any news, rumours or entertaining lies about the Buffyworld? Let the newsroom know, we'll print anything!! (that won't get us sued).

Sadly I have been too busy to update the newsroom for some time now, and with the demise of the programme very little in the way of news tends to happen anyway. Rumours of spin-offs abounded for a while but now 2 years later and with nothing new on the Buffy front it tends to lead to the conclusion that there never will be.
Sad, I know, but at least we have seven seasons of DVDs to look back on with fondness (well some of season 6 was a bit dodgy but even BtVS wasn't perfect).

Buffy has finished in the US and on Thursday 12th June the very last one shows on Sky. I never comment on anything that the BBC hasn't shown yet but I will say that season 7 is a cracker!
I don't have Sky and so rely on friends to video them for me and am therefore a couple of episodes behind but last night I could hardly contain myself from writing "spoilers" on this site. Just when I thought that the Buffy writers had exhausted all the horror and scary film characters that they could pay homage to and do their own take on, in comes a character obviously inspired by one of my favourite films of all time. However I shall contain myself and wait for the BBC to show it. (Exits whistling to himself).

June 12th as well as being the last night of Buffy is the next night that Four Star Mary are playing in Northampton and I shall be there! Along with my wife and a few others. If you read this do say hello!

Sad News On Tuesday 3rd December 2002 Glenn Quinn (Doyle from Angel) was found dead at a friends house. A death is always very sad but more so when the actor was only 32. Far too young to die. My deepest sympathies go out to his family and those who knew him as a friend.

Four Star Mary played in Northampton last month. I was there with Brig and friends and what a great gig it was. Tad had a cold and was feeling a bit sorry for himself but we cheered him up! :)
Get out there and buy their new album. I found it in HMV so it is in the shops. It's called Welcome Home and it's already one of my albums of the year!

Sarah married on 1st September. Well it's finally happened. SMG and Freddie have tied the knot and all my hopes go out the window. (Yes I know I'm already married but I could dream! :)
This comes from CNN:

The couple, who appeared together in this summer's talking-dog comedy "Scooby-Doo," were wed Sunday at an undisclosed location in Mexico, their spokeswoman, Leslie Sloane, said Tuesday.
The bride wore a Vera Wang gown and the groom sported a custom-made linen suit, she said. A group of friends and family attended the ceremony, which was kept a closely guarded secret from the public.
Gellar, star of the WB's "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" TV show, announced the engagement at her 24th birthday party in April 2001.
The couple met on the set of the 1997 teen slasher flick, "I Know What You Did Last Summer."
They dated for nearly a year before becoming engaged, and are signed to star in a sequel to the "Scooby-Doo" adaptation, in which Prinze, 26, played brawny, mystery-solver Fred and Gellar portrayed sweetheart sleuth Daphne.

Here's an interesting note left on my guestbook by Xanderfan on the subject of future seasons.
Thought you might like to know that Nicholas Brendon mentioned on Sunday that he, Sarah, and Allison are all signed on for Season 8 should the network decide to continue the show. Nick was at a Sci-Fi convention in Toronto, and that was one of the questions that came up.
There is much speculation over what will happen in season 7 of BtVS. We all know that this has been touted for a long time as the last season of Buffy. We are led to believe that SMG has only signed a contract until the end of this one and will then leave. IMO if this does happen it should be the last season. I really do not want it to go on without her as for me the heart of the show will have gone.
So what if they try to keep it going? What will we get? Faith the Vampire Slayer? She is the active slayer even if she is in jail. Will Eliza Dushku do it? I don't think so, she has a career in the movies to consider.
There is speculation of Dawn following her sister into the profession. How would this work? There was much talk towards the end of season 5 of Dawn being made from Buffy. Well even if their DNA's were much the same the powers of the slayer are a magical gift and not hereditary. Coming at it from this angle does not work.
If someone were to kill Faith though, a completely new slayer would be born. I would prefer this angle to be taken. Start again from scratch.
Hooray! Apparently SMG has vetoed the appearence of Britney Spears in series seven. Well good on you Sarah .
Sarah Michelle Gellar is apparently doing a Robbie Williams but in reverse. A while back there was lots of coverage in the papers of RW officiating at a wedding ceremony after being ordained over the internet. Well, Sarah's wedding will be presided over by Hollywood director, Adam Shankman who himself will be ordained on the internet. Can't say that I approve of that myself.
Stop Press: Looks as if the wedding is cancelled. Why? Can't seem to find out anywhere. I'll keep looking though.

I've just read this on the Beeb site.

"If you haven't programmed your mobile phone to play the sounds of the Slayer, time may be running out. Music publishers EMI have reportedly ordered ringtone providers to stop supplying Buffy, Star Trek and other Cult TV ringtones with immediate effect. They are about to be deleted from all the libraries of all ring-tone providers - so we suggest if you want one, get it now, or never."

On the other hand you could download the tones from my pics and sounds page :)

Just released on 5th February, I got this from Little Willow's posting at the City of Angelus Boards.
PRESS RELEASE

For Immediate Release Collaborative Album Featuring Anthony Stewart Head (of Buffy The Vampire Slayer) and George Sarah (of T.H.C.) To Be Released on February 5, 2002
B.I.A.B.D. is pleased to announce the collaborative project between Anthony Stewart Head ("Giles" on Buffy The Vampire Slayer) and reputed electronic producer/composer George Sarah (formerly of the band T.H.C.).
Head has garnered international acclaim in numerous theatre, film and TV productions, but is probably best known for his role as "Giles" on Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Despite his critical success with acting, Head originally intended to pursue a career in music. He attended the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts and got his first show business break as "Jesus" in Godspell in the West End of London. He also starred in the London stage musical The Rocky Horror Picture Show as "Dr. Frank-N-Furter." Most recently, his vocal talents have been showcased on occasional episodes of Buffy The Vampire Slayer.
Composer/arranger Sarah launched his music career in 1983 and has since garnered the attention of national press (Thousand Words, XLR8R, Outburn, LA Weekly) and has collaborated with artists ranging from Swayzak, Q (of Überzone), John X, David J (Love & Rockets, Bauhaus) and Günter Schulz (KMFDM), among others. In 1999, he released his acclaimed album under the T.H.C. moniker, Adagio, on Brain Surgery Records. Sarah has also released a 12-inch single on Warner Brothers’ F-111 label. In November 1999, he performed four of his songs on Buffy The Vampire Slayer, and his work has also been featured on the Buffy spin-off Angel. Sarah’s music has been featured in numerous film and television productions as well. His full-length album, Opus Eleven, was released May 8, 2001 on B.I.A.B.D.MUSIC FOR ELEVATORS can be described as down-tempo electronica with soulful backing vocals and acoustic guitar. The combination of Head’s accomplished vocals and lyrical brilliance and Sarah’s orchestral electronica create a rich and lush sound, accented by contemporary flourishes in the form of samples and organic instrumentation. MUSIC FOR ELEVATORS also features guest appearances by additional Buffy cast members.
The album will be available in stores February 5, 2002. Preorder online at: www.musicforelevators.com or through mail order at: B.I.A.B.D., P.O. Box 39439, Los Angeles, CA., 90039.

Well let's hope it's released over here in the U.K. sometime soon.
Hey! ASH and I have something in common. As well as both training in London drama schools (not the same one, however) we have both played Jesus in Godspell. I wasn't in the West End though :)

I've been to see Moulin Rouge and was totally blown away by it. Took my time going Because of the hype but I think I'm going to have to go again, it's that good!
In fact it's one of the best films I've ever seen!
I not sure I've ever come out of a cinema loving a film quite so much. But it's not a film really, it's theatre. If theatre could have all the resources and effects that film can produce, it would look like Moulin Rouge. Visually stunning, songs that touch the heart because you already know them. A virtual cornucopia of rich imagery, marvellous, almost too much to take in but not quite.

Fray the new comic written by none other than Joss Whedon and published by Dark Horse has according to net sources become the number one selling comic in the U.S. and deservedly so. Focusing on Buffy's world in the far future, no slayer has been called for two hundred years until Melaka Fray.
Joss is also writing a new series of Angel for Dark Horse comics.

Rumors are also rife that Dawn will get her own spin off series, perhaps after the end of BtVS season 7. Not sure I approve of that one. Dawn the Vampire Slayer? The Adventures of the Key? Well only time will tell.

Congratulations to Nicholas Brendon who married his girlfriend Tressa a couple of weeks back. The same day, I think, as the England team thrashed the Germans 5-1 in their own country. I sat there in total disbelief. (Well actually I jumped around the room shouting very loudly).

There's a new posting board at City of Angelus which should prove very popular. It is with me already.
Emmy Nominations. Well so much for my inside info on the nominations. It was completely wrong. So here's what the nominations should have been if those burks who choose had any sense: Best Show, Special Achievement Award - Joss Whedon, Best Actress - Sarah Michelle Gellar, Best Supporting Actor - James Marsters and Nicholas Brendon, Best Supporting Actress - Alyson Hannigan and Michelle Trachtenberg, Best Werewolf - Oz, Best Mockney Accent - Drusilla, Worst Haircut - Angelus in Angel's flashbacks.
Xander and Oz models will be out soon. Werewolf Oz will be out first and we can also look forward to Military Xander in full camouflage gear as in 'Halloween'. Does this mean that we will soon be treated to Action man Riley with real wooden head and working parts as in 'Where the Wild Things Are'?
Rumours that Giles is to appear in his own series are rife out there on the net. We can now confirm that the series will be called 'Watch With Ripper' and will feature Giles telling ghost and demon stories for the under fives.
After the success of Rupert Giles ventures into the music world, Doctor Roland the neurosurgeon from 'I Fall to Pieces' (Angel-season one) is to release his first single. 'I Only Have Eyes For You' will followed up by 'These Boots (and hands) Were Made for Walking.'

Stop Press!
Tara and Willow are to cover the Beatles classic, 'Wicca Little Help From My Friends.'
